GUN CONTROL

Today our governments, in North America, want to increase gun control.  They want to take away all firearms from their citizens.  This is because of the killings and mass shootings being done by those who do not abide by our laws.  Instead of going after those who are violating the law, the government wishes to penalize those citizens who follow the law and practice firearms safety and lawful ownership.  Gun ownership, or weapon ownership, is the only way the law-abiding citizen can protect himself, or family, from those individuals who wish to do harm using any kind of weapon.  Properly trained in the use of firearms, by law abiding citizens, can make a better protected society, in my opinion.

In Switzerland, while gun ownership is not mandatory in Switzerland, both ownership and training are common. The Swiss, therefore, can be said to have a gun culture focused on responsible gun ownership and collective gun rights for qualifying citizens.  Switzerland has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world, but little gun-related street crime – so some opponents of gun control hail it as a place where firearms play a positive role in society.

We should be doing the same in our countries, in my opinion.  If governments want to pass legislation controlling guns and weapons, then pass legislation that enforces laws against those who violate these gun laws.  The majority of all killings by guns are caused by improper use or illegal use of a firearm.  All firearms owners should be trained in firearms safety and the use of firearms and or weapons.  Any illegal, or misuse, of a firearm, then the weapon should be removed from the owner and his right to own a weapon be taken away.  We should also be forcing the laws for illegal use and illegal possession of a weapon.

We’re continually blaming the gun causing all this carnage.  It is not the gun, rifle, AR 15 or M16, or any 9 MM weapon.  For the President of the United States, Joe Biden, to state the 9 MM slug removes the lungs from human body is ludicrous.  This is a prime example of our government leaders, feeding us false information in regards to weapons and ammunition.  A 9 MM shell is used in the Police issued Glock hand gun.  This type of rhetoric is damaging to the citizens of any country.  Shame on this President, for such false information.  Shame on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and their continual rhetoric, to remove all firearms from Law-Abiding Canadian Citizens. Let us have our POLITICIANS look at enforcing the LAW on the Criminal element versus the Law-abiding citizens who should have the right to protect themselves. 

I personally have been trained by the US Army and have taken all Fire Arm Safety and Possession Classes in Canada.  I am a 3^rd Generation Vancouverite Whose Mother’s Family was one of the first tax paying families in BC.  I am a Vietnam Era Veteran and have been trained in all types of weapons and their use.
